Janhvi Kapoor, who will soon be making her debut, flew to Delhi with sister Khushi and father Boney Kapoor to collect the National Award for Best Actress on behalf of her mother, Sridevi, yesterday. Sridevi’s love for traditional silk brocade saris was evident in the many times she brought them out for all kinds of occasions—from the red carpet to family weddings. And in a lovely gesture, Janhvi Kapoor honoured her late mother’s memory by donning two beautiful silk drapes, of which one was from Sridevi’s own collection.

In a sartorial tribute to Sridevi at the 65th National Film Awards 2018, Janhvi Kapoor wore an ivory and pink sari that was seen on the late star back in 2012, for actor Ram Charan’s wedding. Kapoor paired the brocade number with a subdued gold blouse that featured bright pink accents, and accessorised simply with jhumkas, a matching gold bangle and silver peep toe heels. Natural curls, minimal makeup, and a tiny bindi completed her look. Sister Khushi Kapoor channelled an ethnic look for the occasion too—a grey South Indian-style lehenga by Manish Malhotra. The veteran designer who was a close friend of Sridevi’s, showed his support for the family on the momentous occasion by sharing pictures of both Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor before the award ceremony.
Later at night, the Dhadak actor stepped out in another brocade drape for a special dinner hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind. For her second look, Kapoor wore a gold and pink Manish Malhotra sari, and paired it with a contrasting mint green and gold blouse. She kept her makeup subdued for this event as well, apart from a hint of shimmer on her kohl-defined eyes. White jhumkas by Jet Gems completed her look traditional Indian look.
